The largest war-time veterans organization. The American Legion was chartered by the United States Congress in 1919 as a patriotic war-time veterans organization devoted to mutual helpfulness which now numbers nearly 3 million members, in nearly 15,000 American Legion posts worldwide. Post 137 is approximately 1,700 members strong and is located at 5443 San Juan Avenue, Jacksonville, Florida 32210.
