As a member of American Legion Post 137, we wanted you be aware of a scam that could impact you. The scam is from the “American Legion Awards Center.” This organization is not connected to the American Legion in any form or fashion. This information is posted on the Department of Florida web site.
“Harry Arnold, Post 572 OH called about an article in the Cleveland Plain Dealer. The article is: Someone saying they are American Legion collecting money for the “American Legion Awards Center.” He called the police and they said the phone number is overseas and untraceable—very similar to the Nigerian scam. Be aware of this apparent scam.”
Should you be contacted by this organization, contact your local law enforcement agency
