The American Legion was chartered and incorporated by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic veterans organization devoted to mutual helpfulness. It is the nation’s largest wartime veteran’s service organization, committed to mentoring youth and sponsorship of wholesome programs in our communities, advocating patriotism and honor, promoting strong national security, and continued devotion to our fellow service-members and veterans. The American Legion has about 2,000,000 members worldwide. American Legion Post 137 has approximately 1,500 members is located at 5443 San Juan Ave on Jacksonville’s Westside. Post 137 also hosts an American Legion Auxiliary Unit and a Sons of the American Legion Squadron.

967 new or renewed members are needed to reach our goal of 1,481 members or 100%. There is strength in numbers. The more Legion members, the more legislative influence the Legion has for Veteran’s issues.
